LA to be precise. Kal had his consult and exam with Dr. Anderson, the specialist, who Agreed with Dr. Simms in that only one hip has dysplasia. He won't know if he is doing a TPO (TRIPLE PELVIC OSTEOTOMY) or a total hip replacement though until he gets into the hip during surgery. We had to sign off on both and he will decide which is best. Not much was posted today... I guess everyone was busy with Mom's Day activities. I had a very nice Mother's day. It should be the last one with a long distance call from my Daughter in Caifornia.. she is migrating back home soon!!! It will definitely make the Special Days brighter for everyone. POP and BUD went fishing last Thursday... they caught so many fish they lost count. They brought them to us... we cleaned them tonight and there were 50 Crappie!!!! Tomorrow is Mother's Day, we're having a FISH FRY ( Read more... )

Took these on the lake the first weekend we fished... the day after the trip with KAL. The last two weekends in a row have been stormy... Rain/lightening/tornadoes... not good fishing weather. We are hoping to go out this weekend. It's supposed to be on the chilly side after rain tomorrow, but we are in desperate need of some down time.

Was good news bad news... The test showed that the tendon/ligament is attached and that he is currently a good candidate for the surgery BUT they now believe his left hip is also diseased which means both hips will need surgery. And, the window of opportunity is small. His appointment with the specialist in St. Louis is Monday at 4pm ( Read more... )

Just heard from Dr. Simms... Kal goes in tomorrow at 7am, they will sedate him and check the tendon on his right hip... if it has not detached then he can go to an orthepedic specialist for the surgery. If it has detached then he is not a candidate for surgery and his future is not good.

Friday we took KAL into see Dr. Simms. He's been favoring his right leg, limping and having way too much trouble getting up from a lying down position for a pup who's not yet a year old. X-rays revealed Hip Dysplasia. An Orthepedic Vet will review his x-rays on Monday and give us a recommendation. TRIPLE PELVIC OSTEOTOMY is what is being ( Read more... )
