I broke it down for blogtard and now I'll break it down for you.

From my post to blogtard regarding Manny's suspension...

I broke this down to people at work today. Once I read what he took I figured he was suffering from ED. Remember, Manny is a Latino male. Machismo is a very serious thing. So if he couldn't get it up, he probably wouldn't want to take Viagra or Cialis because if anyone found out then he'd look bad. ( Read more... )

Well, true. But I've also thought most ballplayers excuses when busted have been pathetic. I mean, B-12? This one has the ring of plausibility.

So, if I'm reading you correctly, his "Latino pride" prevented him from getting legit male ED pills, but somehow, getting a pill whose primary use is as a fertility pill for WOMEN was acceptable?

I'm sorry, man, but I call bullshit. You can't cry "machismo" when the guy willinglu requests a pill that was designed for chicks.

You're assuming he knew they were fertility pills. If the doctor just told him they were an alternative to Viagra then why would he question their primary purpose?

See, people want to always say Manny's Being Manny, but it cuts both ways. If you think the guy's a Grade-A moron, you can't then attribute intelligent thinking to him.

I didn't say he's a moron. I think he's a douchebag. Huge difference. And if you think a professional baseball player isn't going to ask questions about the substances going into his body ... that's, politely put, naive.

Besides, every report I've heard and read said he ASKED for them. Not somebody else, Manny Ramirez. As you said, it cuts both ways: he doesn't get to be smart enough to know there's an alternative to Viagra, but dumb enough not to know what else it does.

And furthermore, take this into consideration: his agent is the same guy who represents A-Fraud, an admitted steroid user. Said agent (Scott Boras, I believe) has a full degree in ... drum roll ... pharmacology. So he, and the doctor Manny's going to, don't know what will come hot on an MLB piss test? Sorry. It just doesn't add up. No matter how you slice it, it's a weak excuse by a guy who got caught breaking the rules. Period.

Well, I'll chalk you firmly in the "no" column.

I think you can safely take the words "Hispanic and Latino" out of your last sentence. A y-chromosome is all most of us need to get stupid.
