I want to thank everyone for their good wishes and love over the last several weeks as I dealt with the loss of my parents. It's been a hard, hard time, and knowing you were out there supporting me made a huge difference ( Read more... )

I hadn't been keeping up very well with LJ, so I just came across your losses. DAMN!

I'm retired, but without a wheelchair that'll get me out of the house at the moment. That's supposed to change by the end of this month. Once it does, maybe we can finally get together. I think of you often.

Thanks, B. I think of you often, as well, and would love to get together. I can't drive (torn shoulder) which gives us some challenges, but once you have wheels, let's go play.

Hey hon, let me know when and I'll treat you to dinner -- an all too meager gesture, to be sure.

Big hugs,

John....

I need to get to a place where I'm not crying or feeling completely useless and unwanted 24/7 before I can do that, ok?

Oh, I'm here. Rotator cuff still torn, surgery scheduled (again) for the end of Sept. I spend my days listening to Jonathan Coulton's snarkiest numbers in the pool (shoulder rehab stuff), watching too much TV (I'm in love with House) being the focus of cat love and reading. Once surgery is over, I get to start life again. I have no idea what direction to take. I'm mostly less depressed, and the estates/cleaning out the houses of the dead is mostly done, and I didn't snap at my sister even once, which is a huge accomplishment. Mostly I try not to mope.

Hey, you're still young enough to enjoy the Seward Street slides. Have you found them yet? If not, check Yelp. And if there's any way you can get to a showing of Avenue Q this week while they're still here (and selling some $25 tix the day of the show) I highly recommend it.
