Yesterday, after his Robotics class, I told Beekman we were going to pick up some nuts before we went home. Trust me, while I feel badly around crying children, those feelings shift from OH GOD WHY to awww the poor thing yes my ears but awwwwww. And that's important and fine.

To my eyes reading this, neither did you try reasoning with him as I have seen many a parent attempt, usually with the offer of a substitute boon in exchange for what they are screaming they want. That rarely works, IMO, and makes the parent appear less than a parent.
You and I may disagree on much, but important stuff like this we can see eye-to-eye on ;-D
