One year Old

My first anniversary of blogging. Huge thanks to vasco_pyjama and kafechick for luring me in to begin with.

I have done my part to celebrate by luring binhi into our compelling and addictive world. Welcome my friend and let us compel her forward to lavish and provocative rants, venting, confessions and sheer gossip so that she may share as I know this global nomad has ( Read more... )

Happy Anniversary! How has blogging changed your life? Other than sucking up every second of free time, I mean.

Welcome Binhi! Post something so we can drop in and say "hello"!

Big question. It has changed my life in all sorts of ways. I probably spend an 1 hour or 2 most days reading everyones news and blogging. Time porn that takes me away from housework or crafty things so I'm sure I can blame all of you for the state of my house. :op It has mean that I have made some real life friends which has also enabled my accommodation while interstate. I have also entertained lj travellers who have ventured to Melbourne. More gorgeous time porn of the retail therapy, cafe culture, chatty/gossip variety... It has expanded my cultural terms of reference. I know things about the Mountain Goats now and probably the last couple of books I have read have been lj recommended.. The Handmaid's Tale, Fahrenheit 451, Oryx and Crake I have also received a lot of ripped music from various lj personalities which has also been most edifying. I have no doubt honed my writing skills and wasted precious hours contemplating the finer points of harvesting higher comment yields. I spend more time fighting with B and Kahlil ( ... )

Ah! Did I miss a post on "Handmaid's Tale" and "Fahrenheit 451?" I just recently read the first and of course the second one is a classic. I almost opened a discussion on "Handmaid's" but was not sure how to craft it.

But I hear what you are saying here - the experience for me was very similar. A very eye opening time and it really does help hone those writing, reading, and formulation skills doesn't it!

But as I said below - I feel just that much more enriched for having read your LJ. Have fun!

No I haven't posted on those books yet. I'm already trawling ahead with The Blind Assassin and thus am reading instead of blogging. But no doubt I may post and if you do first you can be assurred of a good discussion!

Yes, congratulations. I've been AWOL for a while but it was a year ago for me too that I became a blogger, international communicator, cyber community fan.

Looking back at Womad photos recently and it seems inopportune to post them now but as I hear you might be venturing over next year, how about a two year retrospective?!
