Hot In The City

Jan 01, 2006 16:20

The last day of the year was a stinking hot 43C (Or 107F or whereabouts for metrically challenged) and after tossing up the option of heading to the beach, we succumbed to the temptation of free public transport and went to the city which was in the thrall of New Years Eve entertainment. Kahlil and Hamish loved the train ride! We got off at ( Read more... )

Shame that you couldn't get a bit of skiing/toboganning in. Hope you're feeling better.

I am SOOOO with you on the self-flagellation comment! New Years Resolutions have never been my thing (just like snow on Christmas cards, but let's not go down that track).

And yes, wasn't it one hot evening last night? We went to a wedding in Carlton at 3pm and the Church was soooo stuffy, then went out to Fairfield Boatsheds where it was even hotter. Left there about 1.30am and it was still 35 degrees outside (our friends had this trippy car which gave outside weather conditions).

I slept like a log last night .. no air circulation, humid and hot - now where have I had that before I wonder??

It wasn't quite that humid! I think the whole resolution thing is also somewhat redundant in my case. Having a baby to add to the collection kinda maps out my existence in the main for the forseeable future, never mind for the year ahead. The focus just isn't on ticking boxes. I'm sure I'll count my achievements for the year as being good books read, places travelled, parties had, movies seen, etc.. and that is about go with the flow not some linear concept of timelines and goals.

Sounds like you had a wonderful evening. Mine was rather nice too, and a lot cooler (even needed my jacket at one point). Bini_bini was a fiend on the dance floor of the Robe pub.

My only New Years resolution is to be out of the country by the end of August. Provided my budget holds up I should be able to do it.

Can you send me your e-mail address so that I can keep in touch re. WOMAD? Still trying to sort a few things out but it looks like I'll have a home at least!
