I have been most busy of late having recently returned from Adelaide from my WOMAD pilgrimage and following that with Hamish’s birthday party which I was crazy enough to conduct at home!..( Read more... )

well that all sounds exhausting and hot but very satisfying! well done on the birthday party last minute pulling off! there is almost nothing quite like the exhaustion following a kids birthday party at home. now i get a lot more why everyone here seems to have them at one of the shopfront kids party venues (aside from the fact that everyone lives in apartments)

Well I have certainly gone down the indoor playground route and it does have a lot going for it. My gripe with those places though is that they aren't parent friendly in that they are noisy and the demographic of our crowd requires them to police their children every time they stray off into the big kids area. However Kahlil wants one for his next birthday and being in winter, such a party wold be ideal... and lets face it, one kids party at home a year is quite enough!!!

oh yes, i can quite sympathise. i decided to convince my kids for many years that one only had one proper party every 2 years and the in between year was a trip to the cinema with 3 friends.

the problem with the age group and the small party venues here is that they seem to love pumping out that smoke to give a disco atmosphere and last party india went to she came over with faintness and breathing troubles.

Oh no!! At least in big kid parties you don't have to worry about accomodating the parents and therefore the focus is simpler. But yeah, sometimes they completely overdo it!

Yeah it's funny the impact a home made cake makes at a kids party despite the fact that it is so decidedly amauteurish. Hamish loves Elmo though so it was the perfect low maintenance cake to make compared to something like a train (Kahlil's 1st).

Bini_bini seems quite happy at the moment. You should email and demand a LJ return.

I think you'll be waiting a while. Internet access is a bit of an effort for her, she'll come back when she's good and ready :)

Phew! I'm exhausted just reading about your busy times. To do all of that in hot weather and pregnant you are the epitome of domestic goddesstry.
Photos of the resulting party would be great.
