Well that comment was somewhat tongue in cheek! But really Dahlia is the one keeping me busy. Kahlil is quite low maintenance at home. Give him a box of lego..

It is a big time in our life. Kahlil and Hamish are keen and I am also excited though seeing my former profession through completely different eyes. Kahlil only knows one other girl from his last kinder -who left midway last year - and as a girl she doesn't quite count. We are really signing his life away to strangers initially. I took my responsibility as a teacher before so for granted without realising how entirely parents may feel they cede power over to me. This experience really gives a context to former life.

It is still early days but Kahlil was disappointed to discover there is no school on the weekend and really I couldn't be more fortunate to have a boy with such enthusiasm. I wondered if I would get all emotional as some parents do but not really. I just hope I can keep up with all the demands of school from the schedule to the homework.. Kinder is so relaxed!

Hamish already knows all about kinder but I'm yet to leave him there alone and he can be wary of strangers. But I can choose to hang around a bit for kinder. It's not like he'd cling; he'd just want me in the background on standby.

Both of them perceive that added status and adventure that their new roles in life will bring.
