Sadly after 12 years with this company (and just over 20 year’s experience), I have to look for employment elsewhere as it's been made apparent that I'll not be advancing here at this plant. They have chosen to advance 4 coworkers (cutting my pay in the meantime) who have neither done, nor know as much as I do, and only one has seniority over me. ( Read more... )

It's pretty hard giving up 4 weeks vacation. And it's not uncommon to hold a job till retirement down here... but sadly they know that, and can muck with you if they so chose. :(

But I don't doubt that I'll be better off, I'm only looking for jobs as an advancement, not looking to stay at the same lever.

Aw gee, Ernie. I'm very sorry that they've treated you like this.

It really isn't fair. At all.

I didn't know you were a chemist.

I have been going through something similar at work, so I very much know how you're feeling. (Don't feel like talking about mine yet. I'll just say after being passed over and hearing what they want the new supervisor to do beyond supervising, I'd have been perfect.) I wouldn't be so sure about your systems in place saving someone after you're gone. New management always seems to think they can do it better and screw up something that was working just great before. I can't think of anything else to say that hasn't been said above, so I'll leave you with one of my all-time favorite cartoons.

Sorry to hear you are going through something similar. It's so unfortunate.

Sadly, I AM THAT THOROUGH. I don't do 1/2 ass work and my systems are perfect (if I have to say so :).

Love Dilbert. That man must have worked at my company. He's dead on all the time, and onetime named your manager by name. LOL!

My goodness, Ernie. So sorry to hear all that. And I can at least relate slightly with you. I always thought I am not a "job" person, I took it all naturally and with ease, but when things started to get bad and then worse and then all the way down, it nearly killed me.

I quit.

Damn. It's so disheartening to hear others are/have gone thru similar situations... it's just maddening.

Sadly, I don't have that option to just walk out. :(

Thanks!
