I had a hankerin' for a BBQ chopped salad last week. The recipe, as it resides in my head, is a variation on
this, minus the jicama and hateful cilantro. It had been a very long time since I'd made it, but it came out reasonably well, and cookieman really enjoyed it, too

That recipe sounds delicious but seriously hard work. I'm inviting myself for tea at your place if you serve food like that. Yummy.

You're totally welcome to visit and partake salad! You won't be allowed in the kitchen, however, because then you might discover just how easy the salad is to make. :D I think the recipe makes it look difficult because it's telling you how to make the dressing, etc. We also have the brownies I made the other day for dessert! In case you need further enticement. (or if you don't like brownies, forget I said anything. heh.)

I'm glad to hear the chips are good, though. Thin tortilla chips are kind of hard to come by; it seems like everyone nowadays is thinking that, well, people like those thick kettle-style potato chips, so why not make tortilla chips a quarter inch thick as well? I much prefer thin ones.
What did Dutch corn chips taste like? Obviously pretty bad, but I crave further description of just HOW bad.

I still remember the Kinderegg toy I found a few years back, probably in Germany. It was a little caricature of a Chinese man, complete with the rice paddy hat, buck teeth, and slits for eyes. Soon after, I found the Mexican guy version, with a sombrero and I've forgotten what else. I know I still have the Mexican guy around, but I'm not sure about the Chinese guy. I hesitate to comment too much on these things because people get defensive and then proceed to tell me that Americans are too sensitive about these things. Okay, maybe we are. So I'll just put the photos up and let people draw their own conclusions. :) If I ever find the toys I'll post pics.

Hint: I dislike HVR as a salad dressing, but love it as a dip. Mix the powder with some sour cream and add milk to thin a bit for a very nice salad dressing.
Hugs!
