Jesus, life's been rough lately. I guess not even lately - the last year and a half has really challenged me and I'm not sure I'm winning

I'm struggling. I think it's natural at this point in life (not to undermine your feelings). But we're thisclose to graduating and the future isn't a fairytale dream anymore...it's here, and we actually have to make it happen. There's nothing scarier than that.
In some ways, I'm so grateful I don't have a husband or kids or anything tying me down. I can go wherever I want...literally. I could move to Europe and wash dishes. The world is my oyster.
But in other ways, I almost wish I had like, two kids. Because then I'd have to do whatever's best for them and I would default to that instead of having to choose between everything else.
I definitely felt this way after I left Chicago. The only thing I knew for certain was that I did not want to be there any more. That summer was horrible applying for college a second time and having no idea what I wanted to do.
I blame it on the end of the term, you're giving the all that you don't have any more to finish your finals. It seems like each term gets tougher as college wears on. I'm hoping that a few days of sleeping and reading good books will get me back on track. Maybe you should do something that you love doing that will take all of the stress away for a few days and come back with a new view. Is your spring break next week too? Are you coming to Oregon?
I miss you, I wish I could give you a hug and hear all of your troubles. Expect a phone call from me next monday for your birthday.
Kristen-- I'm sorry you feel this way, but I think a lot of kids our age go thru a similar crisis around this time-- you're definitely NOT alone! I know I did, and sometimes I think I still am, especially after graduation last August. May you find support and hope within yourself-- you're a strong person and sometimes even the strongest of us need a little encouragement ;) Take care of yourself and many hugs, Laneia
