a moment of sad relief
my uncle monk finally passed early this morning.
i am so happy for him, because he is no longer suffering.
i am so sad for my family, because we will all miss him so much.
which all leaves me befuddled and neutral and just wishing i could hug my mom and my grandma. -

so very sad
so my mom's brother, my uncle gary, has been battling cancer for something like four years now. he's won, it comes back. he's been through so many different treatments, and it still keeps coming back. in the past six months or so, he's basically made his peace and is just ... living as long as he can ( Read more... ) -

just got cable back today woot! tv, internet, phone ... i'm back in the communications game.
baton rouge is slowly coming back to normal ... still some places with power out but more and more are restored. we're getting there ...

alive in baton rouge
so you probably don't know this, because apparently the national news media says that louisiana "dodged a bullet" and everything is fine post-gustav, but baton rouge is a disaster right now, quite literally. there are trees everywhere, power is out in something like 75-90% of the city and might not be restored for up to 3-4 weeks. people are nuts, ( Read more... )
