Update: Clancy
On September 29, I had my beloved cat Clancy put to sleep. It was a very hard decision, I guess they always are, aren't they. The vet cried nearly as much as I did. He was popular at the vet's office. One visit, he purred so loudly that the vet couldn't hear his heart. She said that doesn't happen very often.

Catch-up: Work
I've been at my job for about six months now. Time is flying! The new job is significantly less stressful than my old job. I've been in touch with friends from my old job, and they've been working 70+ hr weeks for a while now. I remember those days... I sure don't miss that aspect of my old job, but I do miss the books ( Read more... ) -
Catch-up: Bees
Bee Harvest: We harvested last weekend. We used a new beekeeping method this year. We started in the spring with our two hives from last year. We split them and added two new queens to the mix, bringing us to a total of four hives this summer. Colorful city
Today's walk held another surprise. I know it's Memorial Day, but who knew St. Charles hosts such a charming ceremony? My walk started with the goal of the Post Office, to mail a card, then I figured I'd head downtown again. The Post Office is at the top of a large hill. I could hear the sound of a band. Living days over again
A dear friend from my church became a young (late 40s, early 50s) widow a few weeks ago. Friends have been rallying around her, to help her get back on her feet. She's a woman of faith, and she firmly believes that her beloved husband is in heaven, so she has a sense of calm about all of that. SLSO & Previn
Just home from the St. Louis Symphony. Conductor, soloist, and (for the first piece) composer was Andre Previn. I have to say that it lived up to the hype. The concert opened with his piece, which made me think of Disneyland and 1950's version of futureland. I was surprised to learn that it was composed in 2000. Huh. Dinner and medicine
What a wonderful dinner, compliments of turnberryknkn ! We headed down to Main Street. I had hoped for a continuation of the beautiful weather we've had the last couple of days. Alas, rain. So we drove down. A serendipitous parking spot directly in front of Lewis & Clark's must have had my name on it.

End of mission week
Our parish's mission continued each night this week and ended Thursday evening. Tuesday's theme was the the light of Christ, which dispels all darkness and sin. We started out in a dark church and someone processed in with the pascal candle (the Easter candle). Each of us held a candle that was lit from this main candle.
