/me scolds Merton so he'll stop pushing aside perfectly fine thoughts.

I think Tommy should have a wet dream about Merton. And Merton overhears something he shouldn't. They are teenagers after all, seems appropriate. Doesn't even need to be that dirty, a nice necking dream would do the trick. Can you imagine the internalized freaking out that would ensue for both of them. *eg*

Oh yes. Progress. I can see the chinks in the armour already, even if Tommy's being dense. At least he's being dense and friendly, and he'll figure out eventually that it isn't because he's feeling sorry for Merton.
