I was at Barnes and Noble (my second home) today, and I was in the Romance Novel section, (yes, I read them, sometimes, stop laughing) and I noticed that every single male on the cover of said romance novels had a shaved chest. (Yes, Robin Williams is over the top. I still remember, upon my upteenth viewing of Hook, coming to the realization that they waxed his entire upper body for the slingshot scene. I just about died laughing, I couldn't believe I hadn't realized it before.)
My man doesn't have much hair on his chest, though, so I can't say it's a requirement.

I was kind of appalled when Matthew Fox showed up with shaved chest. I'm not a Jack fan, but I could appreciate his, er, asthetic qualities. Losing the chest hair was a big mistake. Not to mention, the idea of a guy standing there in the shower shaving around his nipples is just.... ech, I'm not sure I ever want to have sex again.
