I am sad that I no longer have a kindred spirit on night float for my call nights. The current crew is fine, I guess... but not kindred.

I have a friend who is an ob nurse. She helps deliver babies every night. And she complains about it via facebook constantly. Hate to say it but as nursing goes that's a pretty happy job. Gross at times, yes, but most nursing jobs have a fair share of excrement that you have to deal with. Literally. If you didn't want that you shouldn't have gone ( Read more... ) -

So, I feel like I'm getting better at this patient encounter stuff. I have no fear while doing physical exams - there's no awkwardness with needing to touch them, which was initially a big hang up for me.
But diagnosing and treating is still difficult. I guess that'll come with practice and experience. -

just gotta say that I love the way he sings to himself while working in the basement the way that some people sing to themselves in the shower.
Loud, slightly off key, and full of enthusiasm.
