Fireflies and blue wildflowers

If it makes you feel any better it has been pretty freaking hot here too the past few days and is not really cooling off at night like it usually does. I miss fireflies.

Fireflies are awesome.

It was over 90F here outdoors on Saturday while I was canning, so I shudder to think what the temp was inside, but at least it wasn't up near 100 outside like it was a few weeks ago...

I'm sorry to hear you're all suffering, too; the nights-not-cooling-down thing is probably especially not fun if you're still loft sleeping. I hear the weather's supposed to cool down before I fly over, though. :-)

Fireflies are cool, but in my experience they are usually accompanied by mosquitoes. And mosquitoes are not cool, especially when one has "sweet blood." :)

Admittedly, this is another problem here. However, Deep Woods Off seems to be very effective, so it's just a matter of covering oneself liberally with stinky, scary stuff before venturing outside for more than five minutes. :-)

I've met plenty of mosquitoes in the Land Where There Are No Fireflies, so while they're more frequent here than, say, at my parents' house (90% of mosquitoes were probably encountered while camping, rather than at home), I haven't been really associating them. But you're probably right. Humph.
