Hee, well my stand on the EdWinry pairing is that yes, it works, and I support it, but the reason I don't write it is because, well... I'm a yaoi fangirl and have found that writing straight pairings doesn't suit me. That's just me being the problem; not the pairing. One "problem" with EdWinry, though, is that the reason I don't read it anymore is because I haven't been able to find any good ones that don't seem to copy another author's. And I HATE it when someone puts forth the AlWinry pairing later on in a supposed EdWinry story just because neither of the two can have Ed. Same with EdWinry, apparently, because every story I've seen just doesn't... FIT THEM. I haven't found one decent fic. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the pairing and wish I had motivation to write it, but I don't... maybe you can help me there? Know any good EdWinry fics

I'm fond of tobu_ishi's EdWin: her hundred drabbles and the short stories "Wired" and "Jaybird", frex. lyricnonsense, evil_little_dog, and artemisrae always make me perk up and pay attention any time they post EdWin (or anything else, for that matter). canarynoir's Inextricable and Diplomatic Entanglements are a bit rough around the edges narratively (the latter in particular ends too abruptly, but the author was busy making the transition to original fiction at the time, IIRC), but the dialogue and base plotting held my interest. If you'd be interested in a sort of Bujoldian take on EdWin, they're worth a look. infinitesimi has a long, somewhat melodramatic but well-written 'fic-in-progress called I'll Love You More that pulls off a plausible Ed/Al/Winry love triangle. terracottabones has another 'fic-in-progress, Living Room

I want to beat up the jackasses that say crap about Winry, argh. Winry being a slut because of her large chest? Maybe they have a gene that specifically codes for stupidity. And I hit puberty at 11, so I can't see why Mei can't have breasts.
I giggled at the Death Note part because there's a part of the fandom that thinks that Light and L are gay for each other which makes no sense at all because you can see how asexual they both are. Honestly.

In other news - some of us diehard yaoi fans? Personally, a diehard Elricest fan? Winry just makes it even more awesome, if it works for the story.

Then again, I don't do the fandom wank bullshit. People like what they like. Hence why I don't participate in fandom stuff too much anymore.

AGREED. I joined the LJ FMA fandom after years of ignoring it and was shocked at how anal and elitist some fans seem to be D: For no good reason, either. It makes the Naruto fandom seem totally amazing. Here it's just all up in your face with wank. Not to say that there aren't amazingly cool people either, but the few that aren't, really aren't =P

Well, while I agree with your point(s) there, to be honest, I'm not quite sure why the post was necessary. I haven't seen a whole lot of Winry-/Mei-/Rose-bashing ('cept for the occasional grumblings about anime!Rose from me--personally, I think she needed some character help. Manga!Rose, however, is fine&dandy, and I like her), which I find odd, since I mostly hang out in yaoi land over here. I'm not saying it's not there... Just saying I must've missed it.

This whole pairing war crap isn't really a big deal to me. I mean, if you want to argue legitimacy, that's fine, and I bet there are reasons why almost any pairing could work. Really, it's just a matter of preference. I've made it known that I'm a diehard antifan of EdWin--not because I don't think they work together, but because I don't care to read about them in fanfic. They do work, and I would've been delighted had something ever come of them in canon for the anime. (But at the same time, I'm also glad they left it so open.
