do we have a game chat?
Yes! It can be found on AIM. The chat name is chalkon. Enter at any time!
so what does the chalk do?
Essentially, anything! Given the right timing, of course. When your character first receives the chalk, it simply writes. However, as time progresses, a magical 'spell' envelops the city, gifting the chalk with different abilities each week. One week, the chalk could be used as a tool to levitate objects, the next it could be magical chalk that brings to life anything the artist draws, and another week a tool to alter buildings! The possibilities are endless. This isn't your ordinary chalk.
what sets this apart from other games?
One, the chalk. Your chalk is, in loose terms, a magical wand that can one day turn enemies into frogs, and the next, draw you up a nice glass of water (our events)! Two, our lax nature. We aren't very serious business, and we aren't going to punish you if real-life conflicts with the game, or if you make a small mistake. We're here to have fun and we have a small AC to encourage the stress-free atmosphere. Three, we have a special surprise for you everyday at five. Once the game is opened, this section will be edited to include that twist! Until now, you'll have to wait and see.
what are the transmissions at five?
Every night at five pm, your television screen - every tv - will cut out from whatever you are watching. Suddenly, the entire screen is filled with a bright red smiley face. That? That's the King's disguise. Just a generic, pix-elated smiley face. You're about to be under mind-control. Actually, not you, just the LOCALS. You will be subjected to listening to five whole minutes of some weird chant given by the KING. Something about world domination, doing as he says, and then it breaks off into ANOTHER LANGUAGE you do not understand. Don't worry too much about the transmission; they won't affect your character. Just wonder about them. And wonder a great deal. And yes, the locals DON'T remember this...
what happens after five pm?
Well well, aren't you curious? After five pm, and the KING'S BROADCAST, the city is bathed in darkness. Night has befallen the city. And things have started to become too creative. Think you know what we mean? You probably don't. Find out JANUARY 15th - trust us, it isn't the NORMAL PLOT-TWIST and SHENANIGANS. The true fun begins at nightfall.
how serious is this game?
I'd like to think of chalkon as a beautiful mix between a fun, 'cracky' game and a serious, dark game. It has its shades of darkness and heavy plot, but it also has a fun, bright, and 'just for fun' side as well! We want you to have fun! Go a little crazy! Indulge yourself. You have magical chalk. It's not all serious.
what if I have a problem?
Come to Kat with it. No problem is too small. Talking it out and fixing it when it's still tiny is they key to a fun and family atmosphere!
can we explore the city and outside of it?
Of course! Just check out the world information and see what tickles your fancy there! More in-depth information about 'new places' and whatnot can be found over there!
how violent can we get?
Once again, we're a bit dark of a game, and we have magical chalk. Violence is going to ensue. Some characters are just naturally bloodthirsty. You can be as violent as you wish, so long as you have permission from the player you're threading with, and that anything too gruesome be put behind a simple lj-cut. We're pretty lax about this. Just use common sense.
when are apps accepted?
For now, they're accepted as soon as they are processed. Meaning, whenever Kat gets to reading it and checking it over. This could be as short as a few hours, to as long as a few days. The absolute longest would be a week. As for App cycles? Only if the game reaches over fifty players.
can we challenge apps?
Of course! If the person you are challenging has a reserve, however, you must either wait for their reserve to run out, or to see if they are denied. Challenges are only acceptable when there is not a pending reserve.
what if I have a great idea for the game?
Do tell us. We love to get players involved with the plots and the dynamics of CHALKON. Either IM Kat, post up something on the OOC with the idea, or post here. Do keep in mind this is for something you'd like to see in the game. You do not need permission to execute your own plots and ideas involving your characters, so long as you do not god-mod!
how long can we stay on hiatus for?
No longer than two months.
what if someone is OOC?
The game will have monthly HMD posts. Please address the issue there with the player in question. Or, just IM them! Say, 'hey, I noticed something that was a bit ooc. This is why I believe this..." Be polite, and explain your side. Nine times out of ten, players listen to this golden advice and fix any small errors!
i wanna be a mod!
...Of course you do no really you don't. If by any chance a co-mod is decided upon, an application post will go up on the OOC COMMUNITY.
