New blogging platform
I am switching to a new blogging platform. The impetus was to get one central place where Tyson and I could record our trips -- photos, text posts, and videos. I chose WordPress because it has enough widgets and plugins and customization that we should be able to adapt it to our needs. I present www.j3.org. Alton Bay
There is a seaplane base at Alton Bay, one of the bays on lake Winnipesaukee. In the winter time it freezes over and they plow it as an ice runway. Normally it is only open for a few weeks. And with winter storms we have found it hard to get there ( Read more... ) -

Ski pole
Two years ago Akers catalog had a nifty looking ski pole -- carbon fiber, powder basket, high end, backcountry pole. At that point, I decided I really did not need to spend the money on new poles. My old ones worked well enough ( Read more... ) -

Skate skiing class part 2

Ice hike
Last week after it had rained and warmed, all the snow turned to ice. And the ice on the lakes became polished smooth. Ice can be pretty in its own way. We needed the microspikes for traction almost the whole hike.

Skate skiing and Local skiing
Last year, I hoped to get my PSIA level 1 for cross country ski instruction, but it didn't happen. This year I have signed up to take one of the classes and the level 1 exam. Back to work
I haven't kept up with posting pictures or updates since returning to work after the Christmas break. We have not done anything particularly interesting. It poured rain this past weekend canceling our ski plans. Instead we did boring things like cleaning up the house and trying to get the backup compass in Tyson's airplane to work.
