Saturday, I spent pretty much the whole day installing an overhead garage door in our garage. Sunday it snowed. Monday I obtained some additional parts and an opener. Week full of win
We are home from our first ski vacation, and what seems to have been our singularly most successful family vacation ever. The fates were with us pretty much the whole time. A few minor blips, but all of them made right quickly or offset by something good.
More later, but for now, just contentment and thanks for a good week's vacation. -
Lessons for the week...
Being a manager has its ups and downs. I've had a few very successful conversations this week with peer managers that have resolved issues or at least gotten them into a better state. After a decade of not singing at all, and then another decade of singing a little bit, here-and-there, off-and-on, I went into the deep end last fall and sang in two choruses at once (four, really, if you count the fact that I was in the select sub-group of each of them as well ( Read more... ) -

I can't recall the last time I found a piece of nonfiction this compelling. I've been reading The Death of Common Sense by Philip K Howard.

20 years
Hey, rustmon , if we stay up late tonight talking and laughing, will you come by and offer us mac-n-cheese?
As of today, Celisa and I have been together for 20 years. More than half our lives, and more or less all of our adult lives (for various values of 'adult').
It's been a great ride. I'm looking forward to the next 20. -
