Fishes and ponds
For whatever reason, I decided this fall to make up for too much time not singing by singing in not one but two community choruses (Ithaca and Trumansburg) and both of their respective chamber choirs as well.
So, in part this means singing for 2.5 hours on Monday nights and 3 hours on Wednesday nights. -
That just about sums it up
Every once in a while, I come across something that conveys a thought so accurately and succinctly that I have to steal it. I found one of those today, talking about changing the 14th amendment to the detriment of the children of illegal immigrants:

Flashback
My senior year of high school, I went on a rafting trip through the Grand Canyon. It was done under the auspices of the Outdoor Experiences Club which was run by one of the biology teachers in my school.

Reunion
This past weekend, I went to my 20th high school reunion. The weekend's events included a happy hour on Friday night, a tour of the school on Saturday morning, and dinner Sunday night. Keys to the kingdom!
...or at least the office.
I now have keys to my office in Olin Library. And it is my office, with my name outside the door and everything. At least until they kick us out temporarily for the life safety (i.e. sprinkler) renovation.
It gets more real every day. -

A day in the life
Yesterday was pretty good for a Saturday. A slow-ish start to the morning, but then I got going and loaded trash into the car from both houses for a trip to the dump. Paul rode along so that we could take him somewhere for a haircut, which he desperately needed. We stopped at Wegmans on the way down to get a ticket to dump the trash. (It makes ( Read more... ) -
Ring me
Kevin came out last night, and brought his telescope. We brought ours out as well, and we scoped out a few things. Mars was reddish and disc-y. The Pleiades were neat...there are a lot more stars there than I thought.
But the niftyest thing of the evening was tracking on Saturn, and being able to very, very clearly see the rings. That was cool -
Hey, Mikey, look what I found!
While I was waiting to take Paul to the doctor yesterday, I started assembling a bookshelf that we acquired a few weeks ago but hadn't had time to assemble. I finished the assembly last night and we celebrated by unpacking another half dozen boxes of books.
