I'll admit it:

I teared up a bit just now during Obama's acceptance speech at, "of the people, by the people, and for the people."

Defended my dissertation successfully yesterday.  Went well enough.  My two advisers were clearly pleased with both the dissertation and my defense of it.  I flubbed some questions, and they asked some dumb questions (again with the Nazis!), but it was a basically positive experience.  Certainly got answers to some of my questions about ( Read more... )

Phone interview is done.  I can't quite tell how it went -- I don't think it went terribly, but I can think of some missteps I made.  We'll see if anything comes of it.

People did seem, at least, pleasant and interesting.  It wrapped up fairly quickly, and I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not.

Just got an email from http://www.cameron.edu/ in scenic Lawton, OK, setting up a phone interview for next Wednesday.  If they like me (and hey, who wouldn't like me?) they'll bring me out for an interview after that.
