i'll start by saying he's been gone too long.

but, for the sake of full disclosure,
i will admit that, as i write this,
i am eating the microwaved leftovers
of the garbage plate he bought me
the afternoon before he left.
And i'm fairly conservative
concerning leftovers.

people ask me if im worried
and i know what theyre really asking

The child walks outside,
holds his hands over his eyes,
and screams.

And I wait for the inevitable queries:
"What's wrong with him?"
"Why is he acting so weird?"

And I tell them
that for him,
the sun is brighter,
the fire alarm louder.
That he reacts as we would,
immersed in scalding light
and hammering sound.

And so I feel it is

me, invaluable.

so i moved and i have almost everything i could ever want.  my dog is sitting at the foot of the bed and he's warm and his loyalty is immeasurable.  there's a train going by right now and i always know when the bridge is going up.  i grew up here and it is my home.  there's an ice cream place down the street about a block away, and they have water ( Read more... )

I was waiting for my hair to dry.
There was a book
