Today is 12 December 2005...my Dad's birthday. Had he lived, he would have been 102 today. He died too young: age 63. He should have had many more good years, but he was a heavy smoker and died of lung cancer. He did get to enjoy meeting and loving his grand daughter. Today I went to the Dec meeting of the Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War. It was a luncheon at a private home. Lovely home...all decorated for Christmas, tree, wreaths, all sorts of sparkly stuff. (Our poor house is rather drab for the season, and will remain so. We did no decorating for the past two years. Yesterday was the December luncheon/meeting for the DAR. Had a great time. Business meeting, then lunch, then the program. During lunch we were entertained by a chorus of eight young ladies who sang (a capella) Christmas songs. Just lovely. They were high school students from Gig Harbor High school. Ye gads...another 6:00 AM wake up. Last Monday, we got up at 6:00 AM for fasting blood tests. Again today for the Doctor appt. Due to the heavy snow last night, we set out for the hospital early just in case there were problems with the roads. I haven't seen 6:00 AM since we retired! I have an endocrinologist type doctor's appt tomorrow. So I had to have a batch of blood and urine tests prior to the appt. Until today, I have ridden in a taxi once....December 1963-San Francisco, CA. Prices have changed!!! This morning, Richard had two procedures done at Madigan Army Hospital. It was at 11:00, so afterward, we went out to lunch at my #2 favorite restaurant: The Great Wall Chinese Buffet. Quite a variety of goodies, including a large sushi display.
