Ian now runs a bit & is babbling up a storm - he's trying to talk, but we've usually not enough time to decipher what he's able to say. He's definitely got words for Ginger [Patrick's lovey] and Patrick. He can say Dada & is clear about yes & no, although those are usually non-verbal. Xmas Stockings
I'm working on Ian's Christmas stocking now, as this way I'll actually get it done before December. His great-grandmother made Patrick a stocking using some of the felt patterns that she used to make for her church bazaar. I'm working on a matching one for Ian [using 4 different ornament shapes. First flowers...
The crocuses are waning & the daffodils & forsythia are in full bloom here. I was out weeding with Ian as he loves being outside, it was nice weather & the weeds are plentiful. [Since Ian's 13 months and really wants to eat small rocks and the gardening hand tools, this means spot weed, glance at Ian. Grab & pull weed, glance at Ian. Put pulled ( Read more... ) -
Sleepers...
Ian actually slept through the night last night. Between when I nursed him dow to sleep at about 9:30-ish & 7:30 this morning, he didn't need adult help in getting back to sleep.
Now if only I hadn't stayed up until about 2 doing me-stuff...... -
A tradition born...
I believe we've now started the tradition of the Easter Clams.
Grandmommy sent us a box of Easter decorations & assorted other stuff. While I classified the plastic-shell-and-pom-pom clams as 'other stuff', Patrick counted them as Easter decor. So we now have a pair of Easter Clams on the mantel, safely out of Ian's reach. -
Knitting Machine
On Feb 17, at my monthly spinning meeting, a friend announced she was selling one of her bulky knitting machines complete with a tilt stand and ribber.
On Feb 23, I picked it up from her at another spin-in.
Today, I went to the knitting machine meeting, and learned how to use it.

Another finished object!
This time the Knecklace from Winter '05 Knitty.com.
I'm intrigued by this pattern as a belly dance accessory.
The yarn I choose to use from my stash, a kool-aid dyed handspun of one merino single & one shiny synthetic binder thread is a bit squiggly - the binder was held tightly while plying, the wool looser to get a ( Read more... ) -
Knitting
FO: I finished a Knecklace out of some spiral red & blue handspun. I like the pattern - it's got a lot of quick appeal having only 10 rows, and is easily customized to your gauge.
The down side of this particular yarn is I 'spaced' dyed it by placing it in a microwave dye bath that only reached 1/2 way up the center-pull ball for each color - red ( Read more... ) -

I finished a Chemo cap [pattern is ZeeBee] tonight with a soft, fuzzy wool blend called Teddy by Stahl sche Wolle. It's a novelty yarn - two individual plies of a thick & thin with slubs /boucle loops and a binder thread [I guess that means it's technically a cabled yarn]. The color is a nice orange-chestnut brown solid color. Now if only I could ( Read more... ) -
Stickers
I 'discovered' yesterday morning, that I now have a preference in the sticker type that Patrick gets. PAPER BACKING! He had some plastic backed Frog stickers over the weekend, and a few of them ended up on the outside of the trash can in the guest room.
