Do you know where you're going to live? If you're close to the campus, getting around shouldn't be too much of an issue. Public transit isn't fantastic here but it could definitely be worse!

As for favorite things to do, I recommend Little Italy. There are a bunch of shops and galleries, as well as little eateries and upscale restaurants. Always fun! Also check out the West Side Market downtown. It's like an indoor version of an open-air European market. You can buy meats, grains, produce, desserts (mmm... especially desserts) from local vendors.

Good luck!

Also, I read about Little Italy! It sounds fun! Any shop in particular that I should visit?

Thanks!!

Little Italy - especially Valentino's (reasonably inexpensive and awesome pizza), there is also a noodle bowl shop near Valentino's, the name escapes me but it's a good place to grab a meal. If you're looking for something more upscale, Trattoria, Guarino's, & La Dolce Vita are all great and there is Corbo's bakery for desserts.

Coventry is great too and there is a free campus shuttle that runs from Case to Coventry from 5pm 'till midnight (I think, you should probably double check that on the Case shuttle site). All sorts of restaurants and bars, plus a nice used bookstore called Mac's Backs and several other shops, the best is Big Fun.

RTA is a great way of getting around Cleveland. Their website even has a Trip Planner, where you can put in your location & destination & when you want to get there, and it will give detailed instructions on which routes and stops are quickest or closest.
Besides the east side recommendations, you can use RTA to get downtown (the E.4th entertainment district is pretty popular) and to the west side. Check out Lakewood, which some people call the west side Cleveland Heights. A walkable city with lots of restaurants, galleries, and interesting shops, it's on a major RTA route (26 Detroit).

I know I've recommended it before on here, but since our group here isn't that active, you might consider posting on Urban Ohio's forums; we have a lot of members and your thread would get a lot of responses, you might even be able to find a few members to take you on tours of some areas of cleveland.

Where exactly will you be staying? That will help with some more specific suggestions.

If you have a link to Urban Ohio forums, I can add it to the community infoes so people can more easily go there and get additional responses to their questions.
