The day was pleasant enough - despite this ugly cold I am suffering from - and it was nice to share some drinks with a couple of friends at Brio at the Levee. (If you've never tried Brio's $2.95 happy hours food menu - which features at their bar area - we can recommend it!)

Farewell then you old bugger of a year
Another year older, a new one just begun....
Jan 1st is "just another day" but it does seem to somehow represent a line drawn in the sand, when we all look back and forward in equal measure.
2008 was remarkably short of the watershed year I was somehow excitingly expecting when it began. Indeed, I don't even know where my optimism for it came from?
