Christmas/New Year is usually a peculiar mix of both mournful introspection and joy.

Despite the knowledge that my Mum died 3 years ago (yesterday) and I lost grandparents on Christmas Eve and 12/31, this year I'm trying my very best to find the joy... so as not to be that perennial sour-faced party pooper.
