Drew Faust, head of the Radcliffe Institute, is expected to be named Harvard's new president. It's not surprising that she'd be the first woman, but this statistic, reported by the Crimson, was pretty amazing: [she] would be the first Harvard president since 1672 without a degree from this school.

I was away from the office when we had a visit from a member of the British Library's systems office. We have the same vendor for our Integrated Library System. I was reading the notes from the meeting, and the BL said they were having problems with keyboard equivalents in the library software GUI (which is way to mouse-oriented, btw). Today I was summonsed to jury duty. I served twice in the past but never made it past the room for the "jury pool." I was number 162 and felt the past would repeat itself today, but to my surprise numbers 1 through 199 were all brought to the same courtroom. i wish i had discovered this tool before making some tragic design decisions in the past (namely the millennium green bathroom). sherwin-williams has an awesome color visualizer that allows you to drag and drop colors onto different rooms and schemes.

so i didn't watch the Bush speech last night because he makes me cringe and my face gets sore, but i scanned the transcript and noticed the omission of "May God Bless America" at the closing.
