( CHARACTER RELATIONSHIPS )

hetlandvan ✖ The quintessential cat-and-dog sibling argument-love; she has no interest in moving back in with him, and it drives her insane when he picks on her, but he's her brother so she loves him practically out of spite. She doesn't feel bad at all about having sided with Spain over her brother, but she wishes she could have found a way to do it without having to fight against Netherlands. Their clashes have calmed down now that they're each more laid-back these days, but she switches to French when she wants to make a point. As the mature sibling, she wishes her brother would grow up and stop being so hard-headed about things, but that maturity rarely wins out when it comes to metaphorical blows with Netherlands' bossiness, and like cats and dogs so often do, it's not unlikely for the two of them to come to elementary-school verbal fisticuffs over him being childish and her being stuck up.

el-rey-carriedo ✖ Thinks about him, "This guy's how a big bro ought to be." As a young girl she enjoyed playing house with him, and grew to think of him as more of a brother than her own. Even when he bloodied her up a bit to keep her from her brother wanting to become the Full Netherlands, she still chose Spain to fight beside. If there was any bitterness over her eventual independence, it's not there any longer, and she loves getting together with him and having fun.

francetopsall ✖ Finds his antics hilarious, since he manages to more or less leave her be, though she can get irritated by him and his arrogance. Still, she finds spending time with him to be well enough, and may be the only country not entirely mindful of his rampage across Europe. Didn't exactly enjoy being part of him, though, but her guerrillas stuck up for him a number of times in the past and she gained a fearsome reputation because of it; unfortunately, it wound up hurting her more in the end.

aus_ruinen ✖ On a level she isn't quite willing to acknowledge, Belgium understands Prussia in a way probably no other country can - the fear of not being a true Nation, the fear of disappearing after everyone who held you together finally lets go. Being on the constant edge of herself splitting, she clings to the hope that maybe she, like Prussia, might live on if her true existence gets scarce.
... But he hasn't shown himself to give a shit, so she hasn't bothered with him in a while.

nichtdeinbff ✖ Eager to tease him over everything under the sun, and has more or less forgiven him for his trespasses against her. Refuses to let him cook.

magyar_nation ✖ IDK DRINKING BROS (more to come)

firstindustrial ✖ what a sad guy... (more to come)

notrepublic ✖ Kinda loud!! (more to come)

growinmushrooms ✖ (more to come) (SPEAKS FRENCH, A+)

risecchi ✖ (more to come) (great taste in clothes)

OVERALL: As heart and headquarters of the EU, she'll flirt indiscriminately, but laughs when it's taken too seriously and stuffs her poor victim with food by way of apology. She is on the surface sassy and fierce, but with full capability of taking charge and getting serious; her ability to work out compromises that make almost everyone happy is a fearsome thing. Despite her outwardly cheerful and upbeat appearance, she worries a lot, especially over how her people are arguing whether or not to even keep her alive, and the problems they cause leave her with skull-splitting headaches and a somewhat frail constitution. Still, she comes out of it with an optimistic outlook - because if you can't be optimistic, what else is left for you?

She speaks with a laid-back attitude and a slightly Southern drawl, though her accent might switch depending on who she speaks with or how they're speaking to her (based on stereotypes: French for business and Dutch for pleasure.) This is because I flat-out have absolutely no idea how to more accurately translate Shigaben dialect, having zero knowledge of Japanese. If you can think of something better, please suggest it.)

( CHARACTER ARTICLES )
( BELGIUM: IS A FLANDERS-WALLONIA SPLIT INEVITABLE? ) So, how long can Belgium continue to reconcile its conflicting constituents? For some, the very fact that Belgium exists is proof that its people want it to stay intact.
[ ... ] if there is one defining characteristic of Belgians - Flemish and Walloons - it is their pragmatism. They are renowned for their bargaining spirit and their ability to forge complex solutions that more or less meet everyone's concerns - a quality known as the "Belgian compromise."

( WHAT DIFFERENT COUNTRIES ARE FOR ) "Europe as a whole may be busy papering over its differences, burying cultural disparities and centuries of feuding. But not Belgium. It seems headed the other way."
