It's all in how you think about it. It sounds to me, based on your reporting here that there is a physical violence aspect to your relationship with your boyfriend, that to leave him even if your only other option seems to be to live with your parents for some amount of time would take amazing strength on your part. Many people do not leave abusive relationships until it is too late (and most of them never considered that it could EVER be too late). To stay with your parents would not be a defeat. It would be you proactively saving yourself from harm. Regardless of how uncomfortable it might be to live with your parents, your safety comes first. Always. And when you realize the risk and decide to do something about it, that is only half the battle. The other half is taking that action and then rebuilding yourself and your life so that it is both safe and comfortble for the future ( ... )

Thanks for telling me what I need to be told, really. It's easy to convince myself he's fine most of the time and there are about a thousand reasons it's nothing serious but I know if I knew someone else in my situation I'd be telling them that physical violence is never justifiable. Really, I'm more worried that leaving this city and moving in with my parents would mean giving up the career networking I've done in the art scene here and I took such a leap of faith to stay here with no guaranteed income after I finished Uni.
And I'm glad you're liking my journal, I ramble on a bit but I like to keep my posts public in the hope others benefit from them.
