Strange attitudes in my family...
Looking back on my childhood, I've realized some very peculiar things about my family. For example, we would never return anything except maybe blue jeans. Mom bought me bras that were too small? Oh well, you'll just have to wear them. Bought the wrong food item at the grocery store? Eat it anyway. Oh, this you're allergic to this antibiotic? Too ( Read more... ) -
Successfully defended my dissertation today
I am now officially a Doctor of Education. I texted my dad to tell him. Some kind of congratulatory response would have been nice, but I'm not in the least bit surprised that he didn't reply. This is par for the course with him. It was a good three months after I called him to tell him I was getting married that he finally got around to calling me -
But it wasn't a wrong number.
Me (answering the second call from a Florida phone number): "Hello?"
Her: "Uh... hi? Do you remember me from the club?"
Me: "I think you have the wrong number."
Her: "No, I don't!"
Me: "Ok, who's this then?"
Her: "Patrice." (Or maybe it was Latrice?)
Me: "I don't know any Patrice."
Her: "Yes, you do!"
Me: "Who are you trying to reach?"

Ran into my ex
I ran into my ex-husband last night as I was leaving work. It was a strange & unexpected encounter. It's also the first time I've seen him since I moved out in the summer of 2008.
