Spring semester, 2011
The semester has started and winter break seems to have never happened. I've asked three different classes to post on Live Journal this semester. It's totally crazy but I have seen so many good reflections, which means that my students are really thinking. I'm looking forward to the comments and questions and occasional gripes (and praise) -

My default
I had to give this thought. I'd like to think of myself as having a compromise default but, if I'm to be honest (and I really dislike lying so I guess there isn't an alternative) I have to say that my default is to "on the offensive...fight fire with fire", etc. I definitely have a competitive default. Learning on-line, conferences, etc.
Teaching on-line is infinitely more work than teaching in a classroom. Face to face interaction with students is immediate and, even if it illusory, you feel like you have more control. If students don't respond to email you don't know what is happening. I guess it is similar to students who don't bother to ever come to class ( Read more... ) -

Grading my Generations class, reviewing journal postings and all, listening to Robert Palmer and Madonna and sorry, can't help but getting up and dancing on occasion. Well this weekend marked Ostara, or the Spring Equinox. Spring is officially here, even if we did get a bit of snow. We're almost there, the weather will get warmer and you'll want to go outside for class, and I won't let you, but the days are getting longer, and warmer. Keep up the good work.
