Hats

Nov 11, 2007 17:24

Winter is approaching and I am looking for a winter hat to wear to work, with my suits and charcoal grey wool coat. I think I need something a bit more distinctive than a standard knit wool winter hat. I have two ideas:

1. Fuzzy driving cap

2. Trilby

Any thoughts? Alternate suggestions?

I'm more pro tweed in the driving cap too. Otherwise you get too close to coonskin territory. Either is OK, though I think the trilby is more versatile, and a tiny bit warmer.

i'm fond of those insane fur lined hats with big ear flaps which make me think if the U.P. that lots of people here in chicago wear. Probably not distincitve enough, though.

I also like fur hats, and I think if you want to go distinctive, you go without the ear flaps. I have a beaver fur hat (pristine, which I found at a thrift store for .50!) that is totally round, and it's super dope. That might be a little bit too much though, in a professional context. You'd know better than I would.

Yay! I like these ideas, and I think you're right to go with something with a narrow brim, often called a stingy brim. I think it would suit the shape of your face. But why not try a fedora? There are so many different kinds that are awesome.

These are actually pretty affordable! I love the Biltmore stingy brim hats, can't find any on this site though. I love hats!

i'd go with number one over number two. number two veers too close to fedora territory.

i like to live vicariously through people who can pull off hats. i look ridiculous in hats, almost right across the board. if i wore either of those hats, i'd look like a cast member from oliver!

Aw! I disagree with this! I think you would look wonderful in a hat!

i think we commented almost simultaneously. anyway, i'm sure as a men's fashion specialist (not to mention a new yorker), you've seen better attempts at rockin fedoras than i have, and i trust your judgment, obvs ( ... )

Dude. Shane is OBSESSED with Cabelas. He gets their catalogues... AND ORDERS LOTS OF CLOTHES! Lots of camo, I'm serious. It is totally weird.
