my entire fucking life i've hated that plant called 'eggplant'. it got even worse since i went veg when i guess people just assume you enjoy eating every single goddamn vegetable. oh, eggplant parmesan, you vegetarians go nuts over it, here have some more. ugh and don't get me started with baba ganoush ( Read more... )

I wouldn't call the regular eggplants "foul" but I do prefer the chinese kind I think. I'm not sure if that's the same as thai eggplant, but they're basically lighter colored and long and skinny. they are good in black bean sauce... but then, what isn't.

thai eggplants are more round that oval and are really really pale. i got to experiment with a couple of them, some of which were underripe. the underripe ones were SOOO creamy and delicious.

You should probably avoid Kid Icarus. You wouldn't want to be turned into an egg plant.

I actually don't care for the texture of eggplant. I like it's deep purple color and shiny skin though - better for looking at than eating, in my opinion.
