This is so structurally awesome - the insinuations of "if you are not allowed to have a knife" and "not too hard". I'm not 100% sure, because the last stanza throws me off, but I get a strong sense of OCD (not haha cute but real, debilitating OCD), autism, or a paranoid illness from the perspective of someone in an institution. I hope I'm on the right track, because I found this chilling in its everyday-ness.

I thought that as well -- either a kid, or someone with a developmental disability, a mental illness, or some such. So even if it's only us who thought this, whipchick, at least it isn't just you :)
