This is my first entry since I decided to "publicize" this journal to Facebook. I'll be impressed if anyone begins reading it, but every now and then, I'm tired of having a long thought process that no one will ever hear

Juno was god-awful. I do think, though, that Ms. Page somewhat redeemed herself in Inception. I was not as jazzed with the film as most people, but her role I definitely enjoyed.
I think that a lot of times there is confusion (as much with gals as guys) between what is feminine, i.e. characteristics which identify someone as female, and what is, for lack of a better term, 'girly', i.e. that which is kind of hyper-feminine. You know, the flashy clothes, the hair, nails, and make-up...basically, the attributes which make the rest of us feel stupid and awkward when we make the slightest attempt to emulate, and thus, un-feminine.
In the current tide of shifting gender-identity, this annoys the living daylights out of me. I do not identify as gender-neutral. I identify as female. I resent the fact that refusing to be a walking marketing campaign for my body should in any way at all mean that I identify less as female than someone who does

Still haven't seen Inception, or any movie in theatres since UP. I can't decide if that's impressive or depressing.
I mean, do I appreciate the Dove commericials with all the "normal" women in their knickers? Sure. It's good fun, and it makes me feel... marginally better about my own funky physique. So. It's kind of weird to have to identify what "feminine" is.
Let's get basic and hit up a dictionary. The base distinction of being female is that you have ovaries (please come inside.) Feminine is then a characteristic generally attributed to that sex. Well, that gets all sorts of vague, and then some. That could mean we're feminine as long as we can make babies. Of course, then you get into the gender bender situations of transsexuals, and where do they fall, and blah blah blah labels are archaic.
I'm not gender neutral. I'm not a hermaphrodite. I just don't squeak when spiders crawl on me, that's all. :\
