I went to New York my friend D's birthday. Happily a grad student resident of Berkeley (1960s birthplace of the modern disability rights movement in the U.S.), she was back on the East Coast for a couple days. I have a cold, so I tried Buckley's Mixture cough suppressant for the first time. Pouring the liquid, the first thing I noticed about it is the white color and consistency that reminds one of things we don't mention in polite company. It looks like...phlegm. It was cool conf because it focused on grassroots community-based action where the conversations were not exclusive and dominated by the womyn-born-womyn white feminist academics, though it was held at a university. I was eating with mrbunbun at Full Kee in Chinatown when she got a call from a friend who asked why we hate on Chinatown, now better known as Gallery Place. Passed the post office by Union Station on the way home last night. Postal workers were collecting letters on the curbside up til midnight to assist people meeting the tax return filing postmark deadline. I just found out the ingredients that make Chick-Fil-A waffle fries. The second most ingredient after potatoes is BEEF FAT. I suppose this is preferable to fake factory-processed fats.

Having Chick-Fil-A for lunch today. They make the best fried chicken sandwich. I get cravings for fried chicken. When I eat any meat item, I get this feeling of solemn appreciation, a thanksgiving in a non-genocidal way. It's really those waffle fries that I'm after today. ( sustainable food philosophy )
