Burning again.
We burnt part of the refuge great burn, even after 3 inches of rain this week it burnt very hot. It's still really dry out there, kids be careful with matches!

Kitty Hawk update.
So far so good! Two days down, two to go. The meetings have been very productive and informative and that's all I can ask for. Tonight we managed to get out and see some stuff. I spend a lot of time traveling, today I got a treat, I got to fly over my office on the way to Miami. We were in a little turboprop so we flew low and I was able to snap a few photos. Enjoy!

A morning stroll in the fog
I needed reinforcement this morning, yesterday afternoon and evening I was questioning why I continue to climb the ever growing mountain of paperwork that has become my job. Burning up the refuge
Finally after a month or two of delays we were finally able to get in another prescribed burn. Due to many circumstances which were out of our control it took a long time for us to get our first burn in. We managed to burn 56 acres on the refuge, it was a good training burn with a bunch of new folks. Here are the photos...

Labor Day Orchid Hike
Well it looks like I have finally made the time to get around to posting my photos from the Labor Day weekend swamp walk I took with Moe, Roland, Dave and Kate. It was a blast, although we only found a few in bloom. The water is finally coming up in the Fakahatchee Strand, which is nice to see, but I am afraid it might be too little too late.

Labor Day Weekend...
What a life I lead...
I am enjoying a 3 day weekend in SWFL.
We will miss Tristan, but don't think this will be my last adventure with boy wonder, I am going to DC just to visit and shoot mad ass numbers of photos.
