I took and passed my checkride today. I'm done with training down here! Tomorrow I drive up to Portland, check in with the base there, and do some quick scurrying around looking at a few apt complexes before jumpseating home to hop in the car and blast back out with Sarah. Somehow, I've managed to solve about 80% of the problems I had with my instrument flying. What had been an unholy blaze of neurons and spastic control inputs has turned into a more moderate, though rushed, series of controlled events. I just finished reading Jon Krakauer's Under The Banner Of Heaven, and all I can say is, wow. I didn't think it could be as interesting as Into Thin Air, his tale of a fateful climbing season on Mount Everest. UTBH surpasses it both in scope and style, though not in sheer emotion.
