MERRY CHRISTMAS

This is a desperate cry for help to my fellow drama students. I'm confused!
What are elements and conventions and how are they different from techniques? I'm pretty sure I know but I'm getting frustrated and muddling them up so could you guys and girls give me some lists so I know which is which?
