The road to the capital

Apr 17, 2006 09:26

The decision has been made to take the remains of the caravan to the capital. A night of rest and the ministrations of the cleric put everyone to full health. A couple of hours in the morning and a casting of shape wood gets the wagon working and loaded. The caravan sets out at noon with the three surviving caravaneers handling the wagons. Verealing will attack the armored lamia with three shots(and then look dejected at his lack of ability to do any real damage...):

(14 rolled+13 attack bonus-4 mounted archery)=23 to hit for (1 normal+1 shock+2 feat)=4 damage
(13 rolled+13 attack bonus-4 mounted archery)=22 to hit for (2 normal+4 shock+2 feat)=8 damage
(2 rolled+13 attack bonus-4 mounted archery)=11 to hit for (1 normal+4 shock+2 feat)=7 damage

Snarling, the dire wolf appears and lunges to attack the unarmored Lamia in the battle at the front of the wagon train (18+11=29 to hit) for 1+10=11 damage. Its free trip probably fails miserably (1+7=8 on strength check).

I move forward 20 feet and cast Call Lightning, Assuming at this point I can see the battle, I will bring down a jagged firey bolt onto the unarmored Lamia in the battle doing 12 damage. (If I can't see him, but can see the unarmored Lamia on the dune, I will direct my lightning to him instead. If I can't see either yet, I'll just have to wait until my next turn to participate in the fight.)

Therkahn snaps at the heals of the Lamia nearest him, but his teeth fail to connect with any flesh (5+7=12 to hit).

I raise my arm toward the distant armored lamia, and speak a word. Four magic missiles strike the lamia for 16 damage.

(Can we get labels (1/2/3?) on the lamia? I'm having some trouble keeping the unarmored lamia straight. On the tactical map front, if you wanted to draw up tactical maps (maybe using something like http://gametable.galactanet.com/) as images, I can set up something where you could post the current layout for us to refer to. Or maybe just some ASCII with a character per square?

OO......ll..............AWWW.

Just brainstorming.)

Ana reaches her hand out to touch Oulah's arm as she chants. Oulah's body regains its health instantaneously. She grips the handle of her morningstar with her other hand.

(cast 'cure serious' Oulah; 3 d 8 plus 1 point per level)

Roll: 7+2+6+8=23

(I substituted 3rd level "magic vestment" for "cure serious")

Note: for convinience, the lamia engaged in melee with Oulah is lamia #1 ( ... )

The paladin grits his teeth and breaks off the end of the arrow stuck in his armor. It sounds as though a small unmanly whimper may have escaped his lips, but it certainly must have been some interfering sounds of combat.

Osilgard will approach the nearest lamia, still riding, and engage again. Crusader rears up and attempts his standard action attack, followed by a high arcing strike from Fury as the mount lands (I just don't learn).
(In case I need a ride check: 11 [roll] + 9 [ride skill] = 20)

Crusader hoof: 4 (roll) + 6 (natural att) = 10 to hit

Longsword: 9 (roll) + 13 (prayer, base attack, magic weapon, strength) = 22 total to hit

(I suppose, on the off chance I hit, 1d8 + 1d6 + bonuses = 7 + 5 [+4 str, +1 prayer] = 12 damage)

Silly me, and to think I was supposed to be rolling a d20 for my attack rolls.
