Catch-up post

This week has not been as organised as planned - on Tuesday I managed to slip, with my good leg, on a piece of clear plastic I had knocked onto the kitchen floor myself. As I tried not to fall I managed to twist the arthritic left knee ( Read more... )

You are most welcome. I, too, find picowrimo very inspiring. It is great that you could finish a story and start the next one, and all that within the first week... well, almost. 👍

Sorry to hear about your accident - why is it always the already wacky limb that gets injured at such occasions? Mum could tell a looooong tale about that!

Your knitted goodies are lovely. I like the blanket very much and am positively in love with the teddy bear on the far left. How big are these toys anyway?

And Caravaggio looks very dapper with his new bike. :)

The teddies and the two smaller dolls are about 15cm - I used the same basic pattern for the pink haired doll but with a few more stitches and she is about 22cm or so.

Joints are so vulnerable and unreliable--I wonder who thought they were a good idea? I'm sorry yours are being inconvenient and wish you ambulation and less pain.

The efforts for Ukraine are wonderfully inspiring, and your community's work for that is humanity at its best. Your handbag works are lovely and cheering and should warm the hearts of whoever is lucky enough to receive them.

Thank you - joints are such a pain... literally!

And thank you again - the blanket squares and so on are quite therapeutic to work on, I think, and such a small thing, but a reminder that they are not forgotten.

So sorry to hear about your near fall but glad that you're on the mend. (I did something very similar a few years ago.) And kudos to all of you who are working to support Ukraine.

it was such a silly thing to do, as it was really entirely my own fault - if I had put the bit of plastic straight in the bin an hour before it wouldn't have ended up on the floor!

The vehicles are much appreciated - and filling them with things for the displaced and orphaned children is a good use for them. Once people realised we could do that, a lot of people make and collect to fill them, now.

Instead of plastic, my culprit was a small (but very slippery) piece of fabric that slipped out of the pile I was carrying. It fell onto the floor exactly where I took my next step. And of course I didn't see it there because the stack of other fabrics blocked my view. I try to be more mindful now.

I think the Manx people sound like an incredibly thoughtful and generous community, which sounds especially appealing considering what's going on here in the US right now. *sigh*

Oh ouch! I am wincing just imagining that, and so easily done.

I think we are a generous community. We have never, historically, ben a rich population but shared with each other. And now we tend to extend that sharing further afield.

What a great idea to help with Ukraine.

ouch - I’m glad your knee is not too bad now. Arthritis is so annoying as it takes so long before they do anything about it! I have friends that can hardly walk but still aren’t even in a waiting list.

These days people actually donate their old 4x4s to be refurbished otherwise they pick them up at auctions or similar, often for under £100. And others donate spares, or money for spares, and so on. Then the rest of us help make sure they don't go out empty!

I felt so annoyed when I twisted it - and am much relieved that, after 4 days, it is more or less back to the usual level of discomfort. My next consultant appointment has been delayed twice now - and as I have found that regular applications of Voltarol gel, and sitting on the firmer settee, have lowered the level of the day to day pain somewhat, I don't expect to get anything done about it quickly either.

Sorry to hear about the knee. That sort of thing is so easy to do unfortunately.

What a lovely way to send help to Ukraine.

I was so annoyed about it because I remember knocking the table and the bit of plastic falling on the floor, but I had my hands full, and didn't go straight back to pick it up - so forgot about it :(

There are so many small groups doing what they can for Ukraine - but I fear for people there now, since Trump was re-elected.
