I started this post about 8am this morning! I didn't get it finished in time to post it before I went out to do a day in the wee bookshop - so it is even later than it was going to be ( Read more... )

Thank you! They make me smile as I get each piece out of the wicker hampers where they spend the rest of the year.

You have the same tree 'skirt' we do on the front room tree *g*. Looks fabulous - and so nice to have memories through the ornaments :)

I saw that 'skirt' in the garden centre a few years ago and just thought it was so nice we really had to have it!

Actually it also is now a memory thing - I was there that day having coffee with Revd. Dawn.

What a lovely tree, and wonderful ornaments that look like they belong together :)

Thank you! I think the reason they actually look as if they all belong together is that the first bits that go on sort of underpin the whole thing - red and gold baubles and lots of 'gold' and glass ornaments that catch the light - then the assorted others. The red, gold, and glass bits have also all been collected over the years and many of them have memories attached as well.

Sometimes it's scary, how the day slips away despite all good intentions. I like to see people's eclectic Christmas decorations.

Isn't it! Today's agenda goes 'finish altering the Nativity script and also the PowerPoint, make rum truffles'.

I am doing ok - I have the Powerpoint done, adapted from a couple of previous ones and the mixture is made for the rum truffles. Hopefully the script will be ready for 4pm when I am meeting The Angel Gabriel after school... as you do!

The decorations just sort of build up over the years :)

Gabriel? Of course you do. I would expect nothing less from you.

Apparently most people have stories that come with the ornaments- be it gifts, be that some of them got brought from foreign countries... Mine got bought at a local Christkindlmarkt mostly, done by handicapped people. A few baubles got painted by my mum- she was great at drawing- and I was livid when hubby smashed two of them when he helped with undecorating the tree :(

I feel just a touch sorry for the people who have perfect trees designed by interior designers so that every bauble is the perfect size and colour for their theme of the year.

How sad about the baubles that your mum painted. 😢
