Somebody That I Used To Know - Chapter 3

Christmas sort of got in the way of this chapter - I had the beginning written but then stopped - and it took me a while to get back into it. Hopefully the next one won't take so long. It will probably be the last one - but you know what the characters can be like ( Read more... )

You may be pleased to know that you have joined the very short list of writers I am willing to read unfinished.

I don't normally read WIPs, I've been disappointed too often by works being abandoned part way through, just as the story becomes really interesting. Though I suppose the two who died did have a valid excuse.

I've been rereading your other stories and have come to the conclusion that it's because you don't go in for the big cliffhanger ending to chapters you leave all your characters in a position to get on with their lives.

Thank you! I do try to finish each one - and, if I do leave any sort of a cliff-hanger, I usually actually write the first couple of paragraphs of the next chapter before I post, to keep me going.

I really miss Keiliss - so sad that her stories will never be finished.

There was gleeful cackling when we learned the name of the storm.

What worries me is, if we have a lot of storms this season, whether the Tolkien fan will be the one choosing the name when we get to S...

Oh my, I hope Eowyn is gentle with you!

Is this the story that had Spike in it at some point? I may need to backtrack and read more of the previous chapters/fics!

Almost everything is closed tomorrow - I forgot to mention the airport as well. We will just hang onto our rock like limpets and wait for it to blow over.

As for the story - it is the most recent episode in the whole series that began with Return of the Key, which very much had Spike in it.

The next episode where he features in a starring role is The Valinor Trail; when quite a lot has happened to Dawn/Tindómë in Middle Earth she decides that, as Spike will now be alone as all the rest of the gang will be dead from old age, she wants to 'rescue' him and bring him to Middle Earth. And he is also the star of the ongoing Conversations with Dead People.

I have been told that people who have only discovered them since most of them have already been written have been known to start at the first, get into them, and read all the way through... The best place is really at AO3 because there they are in Timeline order rather than order of writing, if you feel like giving it a go :)

That's what I did after reading a couple of chapters of Going Home as you posted them, and I'm glad I did.

We actually have a red weather warning - danger of loss of life. We expect 80+mph winds, although most likely on the high ground or the coast so not quite so bad here in our village.

The Met office said it was a red warning because the height of the storm is expected during the period where people would be going to work, and it is simply not going to be safe to drive in it. So the banks are now going to be closed and, as far as I can tell, a lot of the shops.
