Truly, the RNC depends on the bigoted and ignorant for their voter base. Its truly frustrating to contend with. My aunt on sunday was trying to tell me that Obama was evil because he associated with terrorists and wants people to have abortions. That's just repugnant. I do expect this from my aunt because she is a self admitted ignorant bigot, but ( Read more... )

What angers me is the people who believe the manipulators - not the manipulators themselves. At least the manipulators are demonstrating a degree of intelligence by being able to trick the population so effectively. The people who vote for them are demonstrating that they are easily controlled, and thus have my lasting contempt. They have been financially screwed by this administration worse than any other, yet they think Palin and McCain are the answer to their problems -- because they've been told to think that. They've failed to become adults, and they need "big daddy" to tell them what to think and protect them from all the scary monsters out there. To that end, there are a lot of right-wing talk shows on TV and radio that are happy to oblige them and tell them what to think.

I dunno, my problem with the liberals has always been that they want "big daddy" to protect them- the government should redistribute wealth and feed the poor and the stupid and the lazy and choose for us what charities we contribute our money to by taking more of it and redistributing to take care of the poor and the stupid and the lazy and no one should have to think for themselves and we should take everyone's guns away so they're not dangerous (and so they can't fend for themselves and make them more dependent on and subject to our rule) and etc.

now palin's insane and the republican party slid downhill fast but the democrats have always been scary as fuck

From my PoV, the right of all citizens of an wealthy first world nation to have all of their basic needs met vastly outweighs the right of well off people to decide what charities to contribute to. It's also perhaps worth noting that as a Canadian friend of mine points out you can do all that and still have most people paying less taxes than the do in the US.

"it is the right[?] of all citizens of an[sic] wealthy first world nation [...]"

so, we have certain rights* 'cause we're born in north america or western europe that those born in most of africa or asia don't have? nice!

*and this doesn't seem so much to be a 'right' as entitlement...

I have to agree with all 3 of you. helen99 has a point because honestly..come -on- now folks...we live in the information age! STOP being so damned lazy and go read a book, do some research or something similar. The answers are not hard at all to find.

As for Cusm, Bro...you take the words out of my mouth. I am stuck in the position of not knowing who I want to loose this election more. I will vote..but damned if I am pleased with the choices. It seems that Honor and Integrity have left the higher offices of this country and turned elections into one large playground brawl. I expect better behavior out of my 5 yr old Autistic Step-son.

and Bipaganfreak, can I watch *wink*

someone once said, and there's a lot to it, that the problem with any and all of our world leaders is that to be there, running for office, they pretty much have to have at somepoint looked around themselves and said you know what's wrong with the world? I'm not in charge!

I mean really, that's just a little bit scary, isn't it?

from what I can tell, obama's propoganda isn't any better than mccain's or less stupid- just different- they're all pretty awful... and it's all fear-mongering

Your mother is not ignorant. I am entitled to my opinions.
I am entitled to have my faith in Jesus Christ! And yes, HE will come again, but not in a space ship.

Your aunt may be bigoted but you (almighty Christopher Carter) should be more respectful of her and not hurt her feelings by roaring at her like a raging bear.

Don't talk about us on your public journal. You are rude, crude and unsophisticated if you cannot tolerate anyone who disagrees with you.
Learn to control yourself, walk away into another room if you have to.
YOU DON't know everything, Christopher Carter.

I do, because I'm your mother!!! Ha, ha!

I will not be respectful of bigotry. Not from her, or you, or anyone.

As for you, belief in the Second Coming as presented by modern fundamentalists is belief in Apocalypse. Worse, it is actively working towards End Times. It is working towards the destruction of the world and mankind. Why would any sane person support this? Or any politics bent towards this end?

Belief in the Return of Jesus as originally presented BY JESUS is more akin to the return of the Dali Lama. The teacher is reincarnated and continues to walk among us. The roots of Christianity are in Buddhism and reincarnation, not Rapture and political control of the masses.

Have faith that he will return: in you. Live as he would, and you fulfill the tenants of your religion. That is all. With that in your heart, you can not be controlled by the fear mongering lies that lead the weak to support the greatest evils of our time.
