went to the seabound and de/vision concert last night. i was pretty impressed with both bands, they put on a good show. de/vision didn't play a few songs i would have liked to hear but thats to be expected when a band has been around for 20 years. i started listening to them over 10 years ago.... yikes. i feel old. sadly the turn out wasnt big ( Read more... )

You know, I've wondered the exact same thing many times. Think of how many goth clubs or nights that have gone under over the years due to lack of attendance, but when certain bands come to town all these masses appear out of nowhere. Or how about things like the final night at Savage, where people had to stand in line for 2 or 3 hours and not even get inside? Where were all these people when clubs like Savage and Sanctuary sat empty week after week? It pisses me off.

Anyways, nice that you're posting again regularly. You always have interesting things to say and I enjoy reading your journal.

thanks :) it is nice to be back, i kinda missed it :)

it is sad that people dont really go out to the clubs but will go to a concert. i wish people would support the scene in all its forms. the one thing that did annoy me last night was that some toronto djs werent at the concert. it really rubs me the wrong way. i mean if you are going to be in the clubs, introducing people to music and then bitching when people dont come out to support the night the least you can do is go out and support a band when they come to town!

You also have to remember that the people who used to hit up Sanctuary and Savage etc are getting older, and the club scene gets old after a while, especially when you spent every night in your younger years at those venues. I'm 30 and I even I can say that I would rather go see a band nowadays than stand in a club listening to the same playlist and looking at the same people from 10 years ago. It's nice once in a while or for some special occasion, but not always all the time.
