Restaurant Bucket List (Why I Don't Need One)

Mar 07, 2019 08:08

When I was building my bucket lists last year, I thought about but did not create a restaurant bucket list. On a recent troll through my archives, I found two restaurant bucket lists from years past (now tagged as such), specifically 2013 and 2014. I guess this just reinforces that with 1800+ posts as of this writing, many pre-dating tags, there's no way I can remember all of them.

This list is very old, and restaurants come and go. A lot of the places on the old list I've been to, others have closed, and a few don't come to mind when I read their names. I thought it would be fun to go through it and see what happened five years on.

HIGH
Bac - closed, I think
Flying Fig - had drinks, never eaten there
Seoul Hot Pot (Korean) - haven't been
Don's Lighthouse Grill - just went two weeks ago
Dailey's (Jamaican) - went, good

MEDIUM
Porcellis - pretty sure it closed
Ty Fun - don't remember this one
Spice - pretty sure I haven't been
Latitude 41 - haven't been
Reddstone - went, not memorable
Nate's Deli (Middle Eastern) - went, just ok
Moxie - just went last week
Pier W - went, fantastic
Hodges - don't recall it
Nano Brew - went, not memorable
Felice Urban Cafe - don't remember this one
Tartine Bistro - haven't been
Market - went, returned occasionally
Stone Mad - went, not memorable
Lucky's (brunch) - went, excellent, returned a few times
Lola - went, excellent
Sokolowski's University Inn - went, good
Felice - don't remember this one
Georgetown - haven't been yet
Flapjack - went, good, returned
Dervish - don't remember this one
the new Tapas place in Westlake that I'm too lazy to look up right now. - went, ok
the new Thai place near my house in Lakewood - went, good

LOW
L'Albatross - went, excellent, returned
Blue Point Grille - have't been, no longer interested
Khiem's Vietnamese - failed to go in multiple attempts, gave up, it closed

I think this validates my decision not to create a new list. I made it most of the places on the list eventually, and I don't remember clearly a lot of the other ones. Of the places I do recall, only Georgetown is a clear "I should go there". The current system clearly works well enough.
