When I first moved into my house, the ceiling of the kitchen had extensive water damage. I got the roofed fixed, and then
patched, but I didn't get the dry wall repaired. Later on plaster in the dining room and stairwell started to crack, and there was the water damage upstairs
this past winter. In other words, it's been on the
list for ages undone.
That has now changed. At M's urging, we got some estimates and had a company patch all the holes and damage throughout. This contractor wasn't as good as the
roofing company or the
HVAC company, so we opted not to have them paint. We'll probably hire someone to paint at least the ceilings, and quite possibly the walls since we're talking six rooms plus the stairwell that had at least some kind of repair in it (lots of plaster), but it can wait a bit until M picks out colors.
